Workshop from 6 to 7:30 covering:
Tango Turns: Intermediate/advanced sequences with
turns with sacadas for the leader and follower, enrosques, pivots to
enhance the woman’s footwork – Everyone will learn!
Milonga 8 to 12 with Performance at 9:30

The charge for the workshop with free admission to the milonga is $30 pp.
The charge for the milonga alone will be the usual $15 pp.
Ivan and Cyrena are Argentine Tango dancers and instructors. They both come from strong dance backgrounds; Ivan as an Argentine Folkloric dancer and Cyrena as a classical ballet dancer. Ivan and Cyrena have performed in various tango shows in Buenos Aires, such as Sabor a Tango, Tango Porteño and La Esquina de Carlos Gardel. Cyrena toured with Tango Pasion in 2008-2009. They have been dancing together for the past nine months during which they went to Paris with Walter Rios' orchestra and performed in L'Estade de France. They also performed throughout Paris in various milongas. They have given exhibitions in some of the most famous milongas in Buenos Aires such as Salon Canning y Porteño y Bailarin. In December 2010 they performed with the company Tango Desire. They are currently teaching at Mansion Dandi and the Carlos Copello school in Buenos Aires.

Cyrena Drusine began her life as a dancer and performer when she entered the School of American Ballet at the age of 8. She studied there until she was 18 during which time she performed with The New York City Ballet. She then began dancing with the Pacific Northwest Ballet. In addition to ballet, Cyrena has studied various dance forms such as jazz, modern, West-African, hip-hop and salsa. In 2005 Cyrena started dancing tango in Buenos Aires where she studied with various tango masters, such as Rodolfo Dinzel and Carolina Bonaventura and Francisco Forquera. Cyrena won the first U.S. Tango championship in Tango Salon in July 2007 with Eduardo Goytia and then made it to the finals at the World championship in Buenos Aires. Cyrena has performed throughout New York, at the United Nations, in the Pregones Theater, in the show Timba Tango at Queens College, and at the 2008 New York City tango festival. She also performed in the Boston Tango Festival in 2009. Cyrena has performed in various milongas in Buenos Aires as well as in the biggest tango house in Buenos Aires in the show Tango Porteño. In 2008 and 2009 Cyrena performed with the world-renowned company Tango Pasion in Paris, Munich and Athens.In 2009 she began touring with the company La Esquina de Carlos Gardel.Cyrena taught and performed in the festival in Comodoro de Rivadavia in 2009 and in 2010 she was a judge in the tango championship in Asia.

Cyrena completed her master's in Performance Studies at New York University in May 2008 where she wrote Una Emocion: A Tango of Memories, Nostalgia and History, a thesis which focused on the sensual experience of tango in Buenos Aires. In 2009 she was a guest lecturer on tango at New York University's study abroad program in Buenos Aires. Cyrena currently lives in Buenos Aires where she teaches and performs.
